Getting Started in Your Community

festivalteamGetting Started inTransforming Your Community

1. Gather a Team
Begin by finding a small group of like-minded people in your neighbourhood who are willing to pray together to see lasting change  and transformation in their community...

2. Make a Commitment to Reach the Local Community
Commit to connecting with the community three times over the next twelve months. Community celebrations are most effective if there is a regular rhythm. Consider a National Day Festival, Easter, Advent, Monthly Community Teas, The Games Torch Run, a Street Party Festival around the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (2 – 5 June 2012), Games Opening Night or during the Games or the Paralympics
3. Invest in Training
Come with your small group of friends to one of the training events listed on the website and be equipped to make the most of the 2012 opportunity for a long-term change in your community, starting now. Fusion’s Foundations Course is our clearest pathway for equipping people to reach out to their community as part of a Kingdom Cell, and the next European Course will be held this Autumn in early September 2011.
4. Leave a Legacy
Ensure that before the Games are over, your team is set up for on-going mission to maintain the momentum in your community into the future.
“We’ve been doing Open Crowd Festivals in our village near Oxford for 6 years, and they have been pivotal in knitting our community together and building hope. From this starting point, we’ve grown strong Christian unity, effective children’s work, gained trust of the council, schools, police, local businesses, and the general public. Many have been travelling a journey of finding more of God’s purpose for their lives - it’s been a fantastic journey so far.”
